S&W Manufacture Dates

I have 2 S&W revolvers, a 617 and a K22, that I am trying to get dates of manufacture. The S/N of the 617 is CBB64xx and the S/n of the K22 is K336xx.

Standard Catalog of Smith&Wesson, 2nd Ed Supica and Nahas places your Model 617 between Sep 1994 and Jan 1995. Your K22 with a five numeral K-prefix puts it at 1948!

Wow, 1948! I had no idea it was that old. It has wear on the sides from a holster but is in pretty decent shape. The 617 looks like new, but then it's stainless.
