I am looking at a Stoeger 2000 at a local Bass Pro. The salesman told me they sell a lot of them and have never heard anything negative about their quality and reliability. I can get one with a camouflage pattern and a 26 inch barrel for $475 (with 15% military discount). Anybody have any experience with this model? I have done some research and noticed about all the negative comments are 3 years old on the online forums.

The complaints were from the older action. I have one in the newer action, and I love it. It feeds almost anything (for the first few hundred rounds, light loads may not feed 100%) and it shoulders well.

If you are looking for an inexpensive semi, it will fit the bill nicely. One consideration is that if you intend to get a rifled cantilever barrel for it, you have a goosechase ahead of you.

I bought one about 4 years ago for $350 and sold it last week for $375. It never gave me a bit of trouble. I liked it a lot but I stumbled on a used Benelli M-1 at a price that was too good to pass up and did not need to have 2 nearly identical guns. When some one offered me more than I paid I let it go. I think they are the best buy in an auto right now.

I have one that is about 2 years old and I consider it a waste of money, and regret it.

How have they changed?

I really enjoy mine and find the price hard to beat.

My shotgun had some issues until I ran about 100 shells through it.
I assume it just needed to get broken in.

Been stone cold reliable ever since.
