my buddy from work wants to know of some good loads for the 7mm -08, he is a hunter if that helps. i would like to work up him some accurate loads, but also something that is gonna be condusive to hunting. i do reload, and i have a manual but i was wondering if any of you guys on here might have some secret recipies to share. and if not what is your favorite loads that you reload, what compnets and such, would be much appreciated. and if you could give the performance, ie velocity etc that would be great! thanks guys.

Secret recipies? Nope!
Lots of good choices out there. The 708 is a very easy cartridge to load for IMO.
Try either varget with 120 Nosler BTs or your 140 gr bullet of choice, (I like the 120 myself.) or IMR4350 with 139/140 gr bullets.
IMR4007 has been a powder I`ve just started playing with. I`ve a strong feeling it is going to be a great powder in this cartridge also. I get accuracy as good as with any other powder I`ve tried, and velocities are right up there too.

I have found that my 7-08 is just about as accurate with everything I have thrown at it. It is amazingly easy to load for.
4895 and 4064 are my common powders for it because I have them around for my 308 also.

I'll second the use of VARGET, it is the powder I use in all my .308 Win based calibers. I use 140 gn Nos BT for deer in Wisconsin and have found my gun likes the middle of the road data. I have tried many other powders, IMR3031, IMR4064, H380, to name a few and Varget always delivers the best accuracy in my 7mm-08, .308 win, and .243.
