Is this the case with this gun and is it overall a good gun for the money? As I'am looking for a decent hi-power clone and don't have alot to spend right now. I handled one a while back and it seemed pretty well made. If any of you have this gun whats been your experiance w/ it? Thanks

My brother-in-law has a FEG P9R High Power clone. He brought it up from NC over the holidays to do some shooting with but forgot both magazines. There happened to be a gun show the weekend after Christmas so we went to get a mag assuming the HP would fit. Unfortunately, they do not. The mag relaese on the P9R is different. I'm not sure about the other models/clones available.

megatronrules,

The FEG PJK-9HP is the HP clone, and is a real bargain, but watch out for the matt black models they released with the same part number, but different lockup.

To my knowledge, all the high gloss blue guns with that part number are HP compatible.

If in doubt, have the owner pull the slide and check the barrel foot. The HP clone has a single slot in the foot, while the non-compatible has an ear on both sides of the foot, which engage slots in the frame.

There is an oval headed cross pin through the frame of the HP clone, that can usually be seen on the right side of the gun, but sometime blends so well with the polished finish that it can't be seen.

I have the non-compatible model, and it shoot fine, but when the frame slots wear, there is nothing to replace but the frame.

Mine does not seem to be quite as accurate as the HP clones I've shot, but that could be the poor sights on mine. The front sight looks like it was beat into shape with a ball peen hammer. :D

There are several versions of the HP clone made by FEG. The earliest ones were across the board copies, newer models may show better bluing but also less sophisticated machining.

Look closely at the left side of the slide, the "old" model has a machined "u" shaped notch, the newer one a triangular cut.

The Older model has a traditional slde stop, the newere one is lowered.

I have NOT seen the new barrel-lock up described. That is apparently yet a third variation.

All 3 versions use HP mags.

The P9R uses SW type mags if I recall correctly.
