I have been shopping around for a project gun. I found one locally, well 30 miles from me. it's an old 12 ga Wingmaster with a 28" barrel the stock has some deep gouges. Bluing in worn in places. The guy wants 200 bucks. I was thinking of offering 150 bucks. I'm trying to keep the cost down as i will be replacing the barrel with an 18". Do you think 150 is too low an offer?

That's what i was thinking the gouges in the stock are deep and there is a chunk out of it. The guy is a dealer and I don't know how far he is willing to drop the price. But we'll see nothing ventured nothing gained!!!!

yeah, the worst that can happen is he'll say no. or try to squeeze another 10 bucks outta your offer.

I'm sure if i went to trade in a gun like that he'd only offer me 80-100 bucks.... if that...

I hate it when a dealer tries to make money off me. It's true that he has to lay out cash when he buys something, then has no way to know how long his money will be tied up in the item or even if it will sell at all, but still it's just not fair.

I can't blame the dealer for trying to make money as he has a shop and expenses.

Those $189.00 Wingmasters would have cost additional money for shipping and an FFL transfer fee. So one of those $189 shotguns bought sight unseen probably turned into something like a $239.00 shotgun delivered.

If he was asking $900 for this gun, that's still fair because in America we have the option of not buying. Buying a gun without researching beforehand is stupid, and stupidity has a price. Plus, I'm sure this guy's shop is not a non-profit organization.

Stopped in a local pawn shop. They had a 870 marine (chromed). The guy was asking $600. I told him I'd have to pass. 870's are a dime a dozen.

You've persuaded me. I've changed my mind.
