My Kahr K40 came stock with a 3.5" barrel. Kahr offers a 4.0" ported barrel for my gun. My question: Will the .5" increase in barrel length make up the lose of velocity caused by the porting? The only reason I want the ported barrel is so that the Mrs. will enjoy shooting it more. Is it worth the $150.00 cost?
Thanks, John

The bullet should be going the same velocity at the 3.5" mark on both barrels. The extra length with the port should not slow it down. May even get more velocity.

Check your PM if your still interested in any grip screws.

My advice would be to have your wife try shooting such a small ported weapon first (if she already hasn't). I haven't myself, but I can't imagine that it would be very enjoyable. I'm not a fan of porting on any weapon.

YMMV of course,

My wifes' SP101 .357 is Mag-Na-Ported. It's the 2.something inch barrel and is very pleasant to shoot even with hot magnum loads.

I don't find the K40 recoil a problem and my wife likes the gun so much she is after me to give it to her.

I don't know if the ported barrel will give you a $150 worth of difference but it couldn't hurt.

It's probably worth a shot (no pun intended).

If the barrel is from Kahr, you know it is quality stuff. I ORDER you to buy it immediately and give us a thorough range report.
