If anyone has read one of my post, then they know I am a newbe.:uhoh: I have owned a gun for a total of a month now out of my 27 years. I have a pretty hot little gun many want to get hands on.:what: I have gotten use to people asking to look at it. But one pointed out that my hammer is not landing fully on the firing pin:confused:. I just asked him why I was chewing up brass and he shows me this:banghead:. I have a few pics if they can help anyone think of something.

I can't tell what you're trying to show there, except possibly that the hammer is not striking the rear of the firing pin flat or squarely?
There's nothing wrong with your hammer strike if the pistol fires.
If your brass rims are getting chewed up, it may be an early pistol before Ruger corrected an area on the frame that was causing hard ejection.
Go to the Ruger Forum & nose around for discussion & photos of the before & after.

Edited to add: Sorry, I was concentrating so hard on the hammer & firing pin areas I totally overlooked your frame. You do have the early un-corrected frame. That's causing your hard ejection.

It's news to me if there's been a problem, since corrected, with the LCP. It didn't begin shipping anywhere until the later part of March. Mine had a spent shell casing dated 26 February.

If it were me I'd go to the place from whence I bought he pistol and have their gunsmith check it out.

The hammer strike has nothing to chewing up brass. Look at the ejector and make sure it does not have burrs or scars

The LCP extractor is strong and does chew the brass up a bit. No problem, it ensures proper extraction of brass. Not good for reloads though.

I want to say thanks for looking and replying. I took the pics to show how the hammer is burring up and the firing pin is wearing at the bottom. The reason I mentioned the brass issue is because that's why I had the guy looking at the LCP. That's when he showed me the hammer. The hammer is what I want to know will be a problem in the future.

something real quick. I use a laptop and when I am looking at the top pic I have to tilt the screen toward me to see the detail inside the gun. There you can see how low the hammer is. Maybe this will help you to see what I am. Just tilt the screen a little.
