i had a really good morning turkey hunting today. Called in 2 long beards. I just couldnt get a shot at the first gobbler. But shortly spotted another one down a long road and called him within shooting range. 20lbs, 10in beard and 1.25 inch spurs. I dont have any turkey mounts besides the fan and beards, so i figured.... no time like the present. I'm getting a full body mount, half strut on a limb. Should look good.

Dang, that's a big ol' boy; congrats! Those are long spurs and a pretty heavy bird - I'd imagine a 3 year old. Good luck with mounting your trophy! What kind of calls did you use (type and brand, and which vocalizations)?

Nice going. I saw a big tom in a field struting his stuff across from the house yesterday. Was entertaining a few hens.

actually the first tom I called in this morning came into the "mad calls" Super Aluminator with a H.S. Strut carbon striker. Thats the best sounding call in my vest. That one came into soft yelps with just a couple cuts.

With the turkey i killed i used an old mouth call that i really like. A Lohman "Real Sound" triple reed (cheap call but sounds good). I had to let out some pretty loud yelps for him to hear me through the wind. When he got close I let him dance around struting for awhile then gave him a few clucks to get him out of a full strut so that Benelli didnt mess the feathers up to bad.

Nice bird. He is a poster boy for why staying at home and minding your own business is a winner 99.99999999999% of the time. Congrats, wind isn't your friend so you did a nice job a calling.
