WTB a S&W M-18 22lr tapered barrel with good rifling. Thought I spotted one online no pic, but when asked they told me it was a heavy barrel even when double checked. :scrutiny:
So did the S&W Model 18 .22lr ever have a heavy barrel?

As far as I know the K-22 Target Masterpiece AKA the Model 18 did not offer a heavy barrel. I also can find no reference to one in the SCof S&W. As you know the Model 18 is the Model 15 with .22 caliber holes drilled through the barrel and cylinders ( it's also just a 4 inch version of the K-22 Target Masterpiece ). That small hole in a standard barrel may look to some like a "heavy" barrel. I also don't think you are going to find a tapered or pencil barreled Model 18.

Yes, that well could be the case. I'm requesting a pic.

The Model 18 was the .22 Combat Masterpiece, a 4-inch barrel version of the K-38. The Model 18 was brought out as a training gun for police armed with the M&P (Model 10/Model13), .38 Combat Masterpiece (Model 15) or the .357 Combat Magnum (Model 19), but it was a superb gun in its own right.
There was never a heavy barrel as such, but the barrel kept the same taper as the K-38, so the shortened barrel (plus the small bore) gave the look of a heavy barrel.
