i'm not sure the burlap is the best background choice. the guns are just awsome! could you thread a comp/flash supp on the .45 when the can isnt on?

I feel like the burlap works pretty well. It's a contrasting color, has a vaguely "military" connotation, etc.
Anyway, I guess I could put a comp or FH on it if I wanted to. I never tried.

i like the burlap, it's plain so it makes me focus on those beautiful things on top of it.

I agree with ANY thread above me that has jealous or less than hate, not necessarily hate, because they're beautiful and thank you for sharing. :cuss:
But then theres envy.... ;)

P.S. If I buy a TLR-1 does that get me close? ;)

It's a Mk III with a pac-lite upper assembly. Nice stuff, and substantially rduces the weight of the gun. Also a good way to get rid of that hideous LCI on the Mk III.

How's the YHM Cobra .45? I have a Cobra 9mm on the way, but I decided to pony up for the AAC Evo-45 instead of the YHM. From what I gather, it's significantly quieter wet than the Cobra is.

Answers to the questions I've seen:
1) The 1911 holster was a gift so I'm not sure the exact model number, but it's made by Springfield Armory. I believe the model is 1911-PH-LH or something like that. Note that it's for lefties so don't buy one if you ain't. :)
2) The .22 is indeed a Mark 3 22/45. However, the frame is modified (by me) to accept 1911 grips. I dremeled the sides flat, installed 1911 bushings, and screwed on a set of Springfield Armory grit grips (same as on the 1911). It feels WAY better now - like a real gun instead of a thin plastic toy.
3) The .22 upper is a PacLite by Tactical Solutions. Yes, that's a can out front. It's a Sparrowhawk by Liberty Suppressors.
4) The YHM Cobra 45 has been outstanding. I can honestly say I don't hear much difference between it and the more expensive .45 cans I've used (Evo, HEMS, etc). Since ALL .45 cans need to be shot wet to sound good, they all end up sounding about the same. The Cobra 9 measures within 1dB of the AAC Evo9 and SWR Shadow 9, and I think you'd see similar results on the .45 versions. And considering I paid $400 for it (plus tax and transfer, of course), the bang/buck ratio is outstanding.

nice guns, i thought i'd hear in the past that with a smaller caliber gun (.22lr) that with a suppressor effects the gun extracting the casing. is this not true?
Conqueror

If anything it HELPS extraction, since the can increases back pressure and therefore tries to blow the casing out of the chamber. The PacLites are very accurate barrels and have a "match" chamber which is pretty tight. Without the can, I sometimes have FTEs after about 300 rounds when there is fouling in the chamber area.
With the can, I haven't had a single FTE despite 600+ rounds per session.

Oh my sweet goodness, that Operator is BEAUTIFUL.
Vive le southpaws, and that Pac-lite is a sweetheart too.
Any of these pictures could adorn a big gun rag centerfold - excellent photography!

Dangit. I may have just paid $400 more for very little reason. Ah well, at least I get the AAC name and "Front Toward Enemy" on it!

I would love to have a silenced 1911 & .22lr!
They look great!
Does the barrel have a screw on thread protector for when you shoot without the can?
Conqueror
April 17, 2008, 07:45 PM
Yes, it does, although I pretty much never shoot it unsuppressed any more. Not wearing earmuffs is great. I find myself getting irritated when there are other shooters nearby, since I have to dig the earmuffs out of my range bag.
PTK - the only real downside of YHM cans is they have a bit more FRP than other models. Anyway, it's not like you'll be unhappy with your Evo, AAC makes great cans.

Stupid barely related new guy question: are suppressors good for home defense pistols because they wouldn't be nearly as defeaning indoors, or is it not worth the grief the cops or DA could give you

I like them both. Well done!
I have to concur on the background... you need to retake all these shots with a silk or satin sheet as a backdrop. Heck even a dark blue blanket or towel would look better than the burlap.

Nice pics of items you don't come across much, for better or worse. Worse.
