OK, I have some carry questions. While I am stuck in MD for a while I will be getting a FL non-resident permit soon (hopefully soon) that will allow me to carry in a few other states that I will be visiting in the next year (plus I'll probably be up in VT a time or two this year). I have been carrying at home much of the time, but a few hours at home isn't the same as carrying full-time.
Also, while I had been thinking about carry guns in the hope that I'd move to a carry state, I had planned to move to a carry state where I'd carry full-time and I'm thinking the issues may be different for a "casual" carrier.
I figured I'd probably want a few smaller options, but with my size I think several full-sized guns would work for me (1911, BHP and CZ 75B).
However, since I won't be living in a carry state where I can get used to carry I'm wondering if my needs/issues might be a little different from someone who carries everyday.
For someone like me, who may occasionally carry all day, but it will only be when out of state (so maybe a handfull of times a year) does that change things? Should a part-time carrier stick with smaller, easier to conceal firearms?
Would a full-sized 1911 be ok for someone who can get used to carry, but someone like me should stay with, say, a S&W 908?
One last time to reword this. If I would be able to carry full-sized in a full-time situation where I live in a carry state and always do should I still be able to carry full-sized in a more casual carry situation where I only occasionally carry?
I have the guns already. I also have cheap Uncle Mike's holsters for most of my guns. The main thing your responses will impact is which gun(s) I'll get the better holster for first.
If it helps to know the guns in question they are:
-S&W 65LS (yes a revolver, but the issues about autos count here too)
-Taurus 85CH (see above)
-Bersa Thunder in .380
-S&W 908
-CZ 75B (full-sized, double stack, high-cap 9mm, but relatively thin)
-Charles Daly 1911 (full-sized and heavy, but very thin and not too heavy for me- I'm not a small guy)
So which one (or two) should I get the high-quality holster for and bring with me when I'm out of state?
