Let us suppose we have a quality 1911 that is put together as it should be with all parts will fitted. Functions beautifully and is very accurate.

Here's the question. How well should the lower hole in the barrel link pin fit the slide stop pin? Can't be tight, but should it be quite snug or is it ok if the hole in the link is a good deal larger than the slide stop pin?

Thanks.

It should rotate freely and I wouldn't use a link with a hole too large.

Since all it does is pull the barrel lugs out of engagement on firing, and bring it back close enough for the bottom legs to take over the last camming into battery, it really doesn't require a tight fit. The max tolerence according to Kuhnhausen is .005". I have a Star that probably left the factory with .025" oversize hole in the link.
