MUST be light, slim, & priced well (because I carry it in light suit pants and... I just lost mine, so I don't want to get something more expensive that I might lose as well).
I honestly love this knife and am ready to buy another, but I would've never picked up the first one without a recommendation from this forum so I'm opening this up to any suggestions.
What I love about this knife is that it is extremely light and slim, but good grade steel, conservative looks, for less than $40.

If you really like it, why not just get another? Seriously, the AUS8 is 35 bucks.
Personally, I am more into things like a Case 31048CV for a slim, light, conservative knife in my dress pants pocket. But I am not convinced that I must be able to open my knife with one hand.

For EDC type stuff, I'm liking my spyderco native.
Makes a decent daily chore kind of knife.

I have found my Spyderco Centofante III really good. Thin, light, easy to use, pretty good blade (for being stainless.)
I didn't like the point over the opening hole so I ground it down smooth. It's nice if you're going to really need to push down on the blade but otherwise it just snagged on my pocket when it went in. I figure if I need that much blade strength I'm going to use one of my Randalls or my Busse.

So just seeing if there's anything out there that comes recommended, otherwise I'm sticking to it. I do have nice folders like a Griptillian (which I'm carrying now in lieu of my missing Featherlite) but looking for something less expensive/lighter to carry.

I'd look twice at a Spyderco Calypso Jr. and if that won't do it for you go with the Russell. Those Russells are a nice little knife, I just really like the ergonomics of the Calypso. Like carrying a scalpel.

Hmm- I have a couple questions about the Featherlite
a. Does it have a pocket clip?
b. Does it have a thummb stud in addition to the hole?
c. How hard is it to open, with a Byrd Meadowlark being the hardest-to-open tacticool folder I'm willing to carry.
d. Would it be worth more money to get the ATS-34 blade over AUS-8?
e. I like bowie-blade looks. Is there a disadvantage to having this syle blade?

nice little knife with a pocket clip for about $20 plus shipping. I prefer the one with the hole in the blade to assist opening. Made in Taiwan but it works well and seems to hold up to everyday tasks and you can't ask for much more than that for twenty bucks.

I have the Spyderco Endura and a large self assisted opening folder by Kershaw, both are great knives, but I have had both jam on pocket lint, now I turn my pocket inside out and clean it before putting in knife in, I have not tried to carry it by the clip yet.

a. No. The Featherlite is all about being as light as possible for a blade that size.
b. No, but it opens with one hand easily (the hole acts like traction to catch your thumb, just like a stud does... you don't have to "get in" the hole) and again, it's about being light. This also makes it catch against less things in a "delicate" suit pocket.
c. Easy as pie. It'll never open on a flick of a wrist, which means it's held securely in your pocket, but opens smoothly under thumb pressure... like any lockback (like a Spyderco).
d. For me, no. AUS-8 is more than enough for office/daily use and, personally, I think it maintains a sharper edge longer (although ATS-34 will hold a not-quite dull edge much longer than AUS-8 can).
e. The clip-point is more curved making it a little harder to sharpen I guess?

Thanks. I like the looks, but I think I'll pass. I lie pocket clips and the ability to open my knives quickly.
I carry the plain blade version of this knife. I have been impressed by its' blade holding capability, size and price.

Ah yes, the dreaded "pocket lint malfunction". :D

Nelphs.
I do way back, before pocket link, so put me down in the camp with traditional knives and nelphs.
You whippersnappers can deal with one handed assisted opening knives and pocket lint.
Your generation - your problem, deal with it.

Nelphs, pocket lint, whatever!
I don't like a knife to be so complicated that I can't clean out whatever crap collects in it with a toothpick or matchstick or piece of folded up paper. When my only assisted opener started slowing down in action, I couldn't get it apart to clean the action, so I hosed it out with a spray can of oil, but it made me not trust it much. Stopped carrying it anyway when I got home from the war.
