How do you carry a spare mag?

I normally only carry with the one mag that is in my weapon.
There have been occasions though when I would like to carry an additional mag. I'm thinking about something that would contain my mag but slip into my pocket. I don't really want a belt slide mag carrier unless it is small enough to go into the pants pocket.
What do you use?

Gerber knife pouch on the belt. No muss, no fuss and nobody has a clue. Works for all my single stacks.

I don't care for belt magazines holsters either. So, I tended to carry a spare magazine in my front left pants pocket. It flopped around a lot, got linty, and I couldn't put anything else in that pocket as I didn't want the other items or the magazine to get scratched/dented/etc.
I looked at some of the pocket magazine holders, but most took up the whole pocket and only held one magazine. I finally got this one from Matt Del Fatti shown below. If I'm taking up the whole pocket, might as well carry two magazines!

Depends on the gun. For some, a 1 or 2 magazine belt holder. For a few others, I use an IWB magazine holder. Both worn on the off-hand side.

Used to religiously carry in a SOS from Mitch Rosen, so I always had a SureFire with me.
Then, I switched guns and got lazy. Now I just shove a spare in my back left pocket. :uhoh:

I rarely carry my Interarms Walther PPK .380 A.C.P. because it's not much gun; when I'm facing a prolonged recline on my dentist's couch, however, I carry a spare magazine in a jacket pocket. It gets a little linty, but is easily cleanable. If I were to carry a semi-automatic pistol on a regular basis, I'd have to get a weak side carrier for the spare.

Lately I've don't really carry a spare. The 15+1 mag in the Hi-Power is what I have used. I don't like horizontal mag carriers because they dig into your side when sitting and they also restrict movement. I have a double mag carrier that I sometimes use horizontally, but double mag carriers are pretty bulky for summer concealment and they also restrict movement since it's two instead of just one.
I finally found a single magazine carrier that goes on the belt horizontally and has a retention snap. Haven't ordered it yet, but if I remember, I'll post a short and quick review of it in this thread when I get it.

this works great for me, as well, when I want to get fancy.
otherwise, I slip it in the back pocket of my jeans, or don't carry a spare at all.

The picture should display now, it was likely down due to that little power outage we had. :)

you really should carry a spare magazine for whatever weapon you're carrying, not because you might have to get in a protracted gunfight, but because you might have a magazine related malfunction. those are hard to solve without having a spare magazine.

I like a carrier on the belt. I do use a pocket holder that holds one mag. I had it made some years back. The mag on the belt is the only speedy way to access an extra if needed.

I'd argue I can get a spare mag out of my front left pocket, using that holder (so the mag is in proper position) as fast or FASTER than I can get one off a belt holder that's concealed under a shirt.

Gerber knife pouch on the belt. No muss, no fuss and nobody has a clue. Yup! No one at work has a clue! :D I also keep two GI mags with ball ammo in my glovebox. My 'other two' mags with ball ammo are in my camera case.

Spare mag is always one with a finger rest, and carry it in my pocket. With the finger rest you can easily get hold of it right side up and load it in the dark. Problem is I always have to work tucked in shirt, so any attacment to my belt is a no go.

My spare mag is in the RIGHT front pocket. The cellphone is in the LEFT front pocket. The cellphone will be the second thing I grab in the event I have to draw. Of course, if I had a belt carrier for the cell phone, then the mag would be in the left front. Perhaps I should look into one of those carriers for the cellphone.

I carry my Ruger P95 and the spare mag (15+1 + 15=31!) in a SmartCarry holster. No worries.

I carry my pistol in a pocket holster in my right front pocket, and just throw an extra mag in my left front pocket along with my knife and keys. I have bulky pockets, but I don't care.
