Hey all, I did a bonehead thing after I took out the bolt action from the rifle. I accidentally pressed the black screw up and the rear baffle came off. Now I don't know how to put it back on. I would appreciate it, if you guys could help out. What do I do? Here is a pic better explaining the situation.

Welcome to THR!
I'm friendly, not smart. Someone who's both will be along shortly.

Thanks, to add more to my post it's a Savage 111 FLXP3 model.

I could tell it was a Savage. I went down and looked at a few of mine and found a close match (Stevens 200 looked pretty much the same).
I just didn't have the courage to replicate the procedure and work out the solution.
Can you get the piece back where it's supposed to be? I know the bolt won't be turned, but if you can get the baffle back on the right way, can you just put the bolt back in the action and turn it closed?
There are a couple of ball-bearings in there. Make sure you didn't loose them.

I tried that, but it won't let me. Since the screw is pressed up it will rub against the top portion of the action and it won't let it go all the way in and close.

Numrich has a drawing. Looks like you can take the bolt handle off to reinstall the baffle.

I just got off the phone with Savage Parts Department. They walked me through the process. It took me less than 5 minutes to fix it. All I had to do was use a sharp corner to press on the screw to de-cock the bolt. Installing the rear baffle was not hard either. I pulled back on it when it was in the bolt, then I aligned it so it would lock in place.
If you guys ever run into this problem let me know, I could give you a more detailed explanation. You could also call Savage, I was very pleased with their customer Service.
