I vaguely (with emphasis on vaguely) remember something about problems with Winchester and receivers and some of them had to be shipped to Winchester so that parts could be assembled. I will see if I can find it in my books when I have time.
Have I earned enough dunce caps yet so I don't have to play? :p

Hi all,
The answer is that Ordnance had given Winchester a much higher rating for tools and machines for the M1 Garand. SA said unless that received the same rating, they would not be able to get their tools and machines for production of the M1 Garand.
I hope this data helps
Thanks again
Clancy
