NO, don't trade it. One day you will regret it. Keep saving for the Taurus.
I miss every gun I've ever sold, even the turds.
Good Luck

It just depends how you feel about both guns.

But you'll regret having to part with any of your guns just like the dude above me said.

Have you lost your mind???

Trade a Glock for a Taurus?

Say it aint so!

If you have the hots for a 1911, by all means get one. But, don't give up your Glock.

Just from a value standpoint, the Glock is going to go up. Glocks are made in the land of the Euro. Think what that is going to do to the value of a Glock in the current economy. You can get one of those single-stack eject-the-shell-case-into-your-eye 1911's any time.

That's all I have to say about that.

No No No....

Do not trade a good workhorse pistol like glock for a Taurus.

Even I don't care for glocks, but don't trade it for a Taurus.

You might need to use the gun someday. Having it work is almost a gimme on the glock, it will probably be back at the factory for repairs if the taurus.

Yep, I'll agree with that, for the most part, without expressly offering an opinion as to whether the Glock is a turd. :)

But seriously, the higher-cap mags are worth something, I believe, and even though the Taurus is a better gun (far better IMO) which will put a broader smile on your face, don't sell or trade. Just wait and save. AFTER you get the Taurus, THEN you MAY want to sell the Glock & accessories.

WOW, lots of Taurus hate. Most of the posters probably have never even owned one. I had had several taurus handguns, both revolvers and auto's and they have all been excellent in terms of reliability, price and quality. Face it folks, Glock is an outdated design in terms of ergos and it needs a facelift to keep up with S&W and Springfield.

Apples and oranges:) Keep the Glock.

A higher end 1911, yes. Not a Taurus hater, just not as valuable a gun.

I also have a taurus, it is my carry gun but I bekieve a glock is a better gun even if I have never owned one.I have shot a few and they have a good rep.I would buy an Xd before a glock.I might even consider a 24/7 for the price but don;t sell a good gun to buy a taurus

I personally would not trade. You have too much tied up in the G-30 to let it go for what someone would give you in trade. Save for it. Two is better than one or the other.

:uhoh:

The 1911 hasn't really changed much in basic form or ergos over the last 100 years.

Most of the posters probably have never even owned one.

I have owned several. I owned a 44 special revolver that was fantastic.... I owned the 92 clone and it was horrible. I have owned a number of others. Some were good, some not....

Here is what the whole line had in common.... It is a crapshoot whether you get a good one or the lemon and there are far more lemons than I care for.

I like Glocks, I shoot them well and I like the way they look and function. I liked my Taurus Revo and a few others.... but I sold all my Tauri and still have the Glocks... Even sold the Revo that I liked.

I vote No on the trade.

As to Glocks being outdated.... some of us don't need racing stripes or windswept styling. We respect a workhorse and can deal with the lack of snazziness.

If it were me, I'd hang onto the Glock and save for the Taurus, though I might also consider some other 1911 manufacturers as well.

From a Glock owner AND a Taurus owner:

Don't trade. If you're comfortable with the Glock keep it, and as others have suggested, save for the 1911 type. From all I've heard of the Taurus 1911s they're a decent gun. My one Taurus (a 941) is a gem, there's a teacher up here with Millenium. She loves it, I've shot it twice. I'd have no qualms about carrying it.

Here's an idea: You'll be getting a economic stimulus refund in May, no? Hmm....

Riiiiight. Glock needs to change to keep up with S&W and Springfield who dominate the market.

I'm just break'n your balls. I know what you meant. ;)

I wouldn't do it. You know the Glock works well for you, but you can't be sure about the PT1911. I would save up some money to buy it instead.

all to trade for a $500 taurus? We've all felt the urge, but be patient and save for the taurus as a second gun. You'll regret the trade for the rest of your life.

The XD and S&W can't hold a candle to the glock.

GLOCK is the gun all other polymers are compared to. XD's aren't junk, but they are no glock.

Owned both.

Metal for plastic? But of course! You have my blessing. Go forth and get a 1911.

I have a Taurus PT-92, I like it, good gun. I also have several Glocks:uhoh:

If it was my choice I would not trade it:what: But you may not like the gun for various reasons... So do what you think is best for yourself, we all live and learn, not like they can not be replaced:uhoh:

1911's own Glucks...Blocks are for thugs and gangbangers.

See...I can play the name game too. Oh...wait, I fell to a Glock's level of thinking...whoa is me...bad karma points are now collected here.

If it was a fair trade I would say get the one you like. But it is not a fair trade, the Glock with the extras is worth several hundred more then the Taurus.

I trade guns frequently. Very few do I regret, but I make it a point to not trade on impulse, and to not trade anything I don't shoot or wnat to hang on to.

Shoot the 1911, and if you like it more, swap. If you are in any way uncertain, sleep on it. If you feel you are slightly shorted, ask for cash on top. I've "traded down" for guns that I like lots more than the original. If they get more use, I'm happy.

Actually, that's what I like about Glock. They stay with their main pistol line, and don't divert away from their roots with the fluff and bling like other companies *cough* SIG Sauer *cough*
