I'm probably missing a few things...I've got a black SIGG bottle, cell phone, maps, GPS unit I forgot to put in there...the little tin is your typical survival tin(very similar to the SKS survival tin.

SAK Farmer
Mora #2000 Survival knife
Leatherman Kick
Glock 36
Ammo
Remington 870 Police magnum
Military Survival handbook
Military can opener
Hoppes oil
Flint
Magnesium Shavings and bar
Trixxocone(sp?) Ration heat bar
Mag Light
First Aid/CPR kit
ALICE Med Pack w/frame
Fleece Blanket

I need to add some MREs and more Water sources, possibly a change of clothes. So far I think it looks alright.

youre missing a slingshot. if things do get bad enough that you leave your house and are living off the land lots of other people will be also. in that case you are going to want something that you can bring down small game with silently. it would suck to get ambushed for your squirrel because somebody heard you shoot it.
telescopic fishing pole with a spool of line and some basic tackle would also come in handy.

Think lots of H2O and MREs; also have some good footwear and socks if you have to hike anywhere. Maybe consider a military type poncho/shelter half and some plastic sheeting for an emergency shelter from the elements. A small kit with fishing line and hooks might also come in handy. I have a small hatchet and a folding saw in my bag, along with some nails and paracord. You might want a compass too.

Yeah I forgot to picture a bunch of the stuff. I've got a compass, GPS, Maps, Cantenes, SIGG bottles, Good hiking shoes, military tent(both halves). The little survival tin has fishing line and hooks, as well as a bunch of other tuff(water purification tabs, water proof matches etc).

Yeah I really need a good machete and some paracord. And maybe a poncho, then I think I'll be set(well, I need MREs and granola bars too)

Some "contractor cleanup" garbage bags would be a good addition as a poncho, tarp, rain cover, etc.

Holster to put the pistol in? It would be kind of useless in that case in the pack.

Put the Hoppes in a ziplock bag, it would get icky if it was squished and started leaking.

I'd add some sort of hat with sun cover for your face, neck, and ears as well.

Spare batteries for the flashlight and/or a backup light

Battery powered am/fm radio

How about a blowgun/walking stick combination for silent hunting/clubbing of vermin or game?
Aah, multi-tasking.

What's your mission/goal? Are you preparing to go live a subsistence life in the woods?

Instead of MREs how about some food bars like the Datrex bars from Emergency Essentials or the Lifeboat bars from Brigade Quartermasters? Less weight, better nutrition. I'd agree more shelter materials should be included, at least a couple of light ponchos or tarps.

Well, I suggest you could do better.

By the way, one thread on THR is quite enough. Don't spam the board and open duplicate threads on your topic in different subforums.

I merged these two into one thread.

Eh, if I really wanted to survive off what's there I'm sure I could. Most people in survival situations have had much less and survived.

Survive how? You're setting yourself up to go live a subsistence life in the woods someplace. If that's your goal, OK. You're on your way. But you suggested your goal was something else. Something just to get out of dodge if something bad happened.

I suggest if that is your goal, you could do better.

You've redefined the goal of your bag back to surviving. So which is it? Is it gathering things to help you need if you need to evacuate your home? Or is it to go live in the woods?

Again I recommend visiting that link to the Katrina discussion, and see if it redefines how you approach the problem.

While Survival/Preparedness/BOBs/Pocket Kits are some of my favorite topics I don't see this thread as a good fit for NFW.

Lots of old threads in S&T on BOBs, what they're for, what they contain to compare your's to.
