Barstow 9mm barrel in Sig 229 .40 pistol

I have a Barstow 9mm barrel I purchased to use in my .40 Sig 229. When installed the pistol does not completely go into battery (i.e. the slide does not move completely forward with about 1/32 or 1/64th of the slide extending past the rear of the frame). The pistol works fine in dryfiring.
Where would I start in id'ing and correcting the problem? Is it safe to fire in this condition?
Thank you, Bill

Bar-Sto drop-in barrels come unfitted, but should only need the tight spots knocked off to work.
Did you get the fitting instructions with the barrel?
Anyway, you need to smoke with a candle, or color the barrel with a Magic Marker, and carefully put it together and cycle it once.
That will tell you where the tight spots are. Probably going to just be the back of the barrel hood, maybe.
If it's an unfitted barrel, I would contact Bar-Sto and see if they won't do it.

yes, it is a drop-in and works fine in my friend's 229 but I never checked the slide position when the slide was forward on his. I'll put some smoke on it to find the hight point(s).
I appreciate the input. Bill
