New Stevens 411

So I'm looking through the new American Hunter and I see an ad for a new steven shotgun. 12 ga 28 inch chrome lined, selective trigger etc etc. Suggested retail $400, not bad for an American double.

However according to the Savage website the 411 is made in Russia.
So you are really getting a Baikal with a $200 Stevens logo.

I've looked at Baikals, just as a cowboy gun and have never been impressed with the fit and finish compared to a similarly priced Stoeger from Brazil. That new Stevens would have to be twice the shotgun for me to look at it.

For the money, I'd rather get an old 311, the Stevens, or another post WWI working class double and do what is necessary to get it shooting where it should. These are nice, durable shotguns and underappreciated.

The Russian stuff is OK, but IMO, there's better guns for the money.
