Anyone know where I can get some dies for my 7.62 X 54 that are .311 in diameter instead of .308. All the ones I see are .308.
Thanks in advance

CBS220 April 20, 2008, 07:49 PM I believe Hornady ships theirs with both .308 and .311 balls. 243winxb April 20, 2008, 07:51 PM http://www.huntingtons.com You might try Huntington/RCBS dmftoy1 April 20, 2008, 08:48 PM Lee will send you a .311 expander for their dies . .but if it shaves brass on your first case send it in to them immediately. :) (They had a bad batch of dies) kennedy April 20, 2008, 09:00 PM I use lees, bought them from cabelas res45 April 20, 2008, 09:20 PM I have the RCBS set it has both expander balls in .308 and .311 its actually .310 I got mine at Midway. http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=660339 Graf there shipping is only $4.95 if your order is over $30 http://www.grafs.com/fc/browse.php?q=&v=640&s=az&p=2041 dougestyle April 20, 2008, 09:58 PM Thanks for the replies and links. Think I'll go with the RCBS. stubbicatt April 21, 2008, 08:17 AM Send your fired brass to C&H Tool and Die and they will make you a die that fits your chamber. Since this cartridge headspaces on the rim, often times the chambers are cut generously in the shoulder dimension. The shoulders tend to blow forward quite a bit. If you FL resize your cases, and set the shoulders back to original dimension, you may have some real problems. The die is less than $60, and your brass fits your rifle perfectly. My $.02 Clark April 21, 2008, 07:11 PM I don't use expander balls, especially in the sizing step, where it would pull through. Hey, if it's worth doing, it's worth over-doing! ;) Especially considering you can buy an extra M44 for that money.
