Crison Trace grips on J frame?

For those who carry a S&W J frame, are the CT LG-305 grips out of the question for pocket carry or the Smartcarry rig?

Being a longer grip, it's obvious they would be more pleasant for range use but how about concealment in a pocket holster or Smartcarry?

The S&W 642 with the CT grips is only offered with the LG-305 grips from the factory and provides a pretty decent cost savings over buying the CT grips separate.

Your opinions appreciated.

I have the LG-105 grips and like them much. I also pocket carry.

I have the LG-305 on a J-frame and it conceals very well in cargo shorts.

I don't carry, but I practice in the hopes of a new sheriff. The LG305s on my S&W 637 fit in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster just fine in my chinos.

I dont care for them personally . However its not i suspect grip model specific . Point is the laser emitter tube interferes with my normal grip forcing me to adjust my hand lower than i like . If you have shot ct grips and like them then by all means , however if you have not shot a set i suggest you do before you buy .

I second the shoot one before you buy one comment. They change my grip on my 442 enough to be akward to shoot. I usually grasp as high on the grips as I can.

Whoa whoa whoa. Redneck and OXO, that is the first time I've heard that and I'm glad you wrote it. I have planned on buying them for my 442 but I've never fired any and I too hold the grip very high.

I've held a CT on a GLOCK and it does fine, but now I'm concerned about my 442.

I have CTC 405's on my 642 and regular grips on my 442 I find no difference.

I would however get the 405's over the 305's..

I agree -- get the LG405 instead of the LG305. That little shock absorber at the top of the grip really makes a difference. I bought my 637 with the 305s four years ago, before the 405s came out. It beats my hand up so badly, even with range loads, that I limit my total to twenty rounds. I am seriously thinking about replacing them with a set of 405s.

I've never tried the LG205s, but on reading that they are made of hard plastic I lost all interest. Life's too short, and I have only one right hand.
