I saw a post talking about what to buy when they got a C&R FFL and this got me wondering what do you have to do to get a C&R FFL? I was at the BATF site and couldnt find any info. Did I mis it or is there another site that says what to do? Thanks.

Be aware that the application forms found on cruffler.com are out of date.

Correct. You can no longer download the form. You have to request one from ATF Distribution Center. You can make the request for the forms here:

http://www.atf.gov/dcof/index.htm

On the right hand side of the screen, you want F 7CR (5310.16) - Application for License (Collector of Curios and Relics) Under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, Firearms

I have the packet containing the C&R application.
Among other things in the packet is 4 fingerprint cards, which I think I had requested when ordering the packet from the distribution center website.
FBI and my state already have my prints on file. I do not see anywhere in the applications' instruction where it states to do anything with fingerprint cards.

Did I just order extra forms (fingerprint cards) which I do not need for this application?
Does this C&R license require these fingerprint cards?
Example: 1 to local LEO, 1 to state, 1 to FBI, 1 to BATFE

I plan to call the phone number on the applications backside tomorrow,
I was just wondering tonight.

I gave Andrew, Cruffler, for the collecting advice.
Thank you Car Knocker and NC Dave for pointing out the application forms no longer apply.

They sent you things you do not need. There is no requirement for fingerprints for a C&R License.

When you get your license, you'll also receive a BIG packet of stuff that would be applicable if you were an 01 License holder. You can ignore the cards and just sent in the application.

Don't forget to send a copy of your application to your chief LEO.

I'll add one other "Captain Obvious" piece of advice to what NC Dave said:

In that BIG packet of stuff will be some books on federal and state firearms laws. READ THEM. It will save a lot of trouble down the road.

I called today, and requested the forms. The ATF operator was helpful, polite, and happy to send them. Took me all of about 3 minutes, and as soon as the forms arrive-I'll be getting them filled out ASAP-I had no idea the C&R license was as affordable as it is.

I have a question regarding the application, and I'm not seeing it answered specifically in the links provided above.

(edited) I seem to recall reading somewhere that the address that goes in box 2 should be the address we want things shipped to. Correct? If so, then I'll end up giving them up to four different addresses: one for C&R delivery, one for personal mailing (PO Box), one for personal residence (over 5 years) and one for the billing address for the credit/debit card.

If my memory is correct, can you give me a cite?

Thanks

Answered my own question.

But I really hate having to call the ATF.

If anyone else is interested, the answer is "where will the bulk of the collection be located; i.e. where would they go to inspect your records?"

Per the March 2006 FFL newsletter, page 8(http://www.atf.gov/firearms/newsletter/0306fflnewsletter.pdf), the address on the license is not necessarily the address where items must be shipped to. Alternate shipping addresses are allowed.
