My decap die's spindle lock must have been a little loose, I saw that decap pin was rising after awhile. I went to loosen the spindle lock, adjusted the decap pin's length back to 3/16" then tightened the spindle lock again. Only to find that my pin was freely spinning, instead of tightly held in place.

Any idea what I forgot to do to secure the spindle?

Crank on the collet lock nut, I use a pair of 8" cresent wrenches on mine. The newer Hornady dies have a threaded stem that holds much better, I`ve been told. The old ones are a pain to get tight.

The stem I got does have thread on it, I also used a cresent wrench to lock it. It's tight yet the stem spins freely. I had this die locked up tight before, I must be forgetting something...or one of the threads got stripped (I hope not).

The expander button has threads on the inside of it to hold the decapping pin in place. Tighten the expander button, CAREFULLY, being careful not to mar it.

The expander button threads into end of the stem right? That has been tightly screwed, and it's not going anywhere. I'm at a loss, I should call Hornady but they are open when I'm working.
