I would be afraid of looseing my cylinder , I like the closed bottom type better ...It `s thick brush here where I go in the woods ..always rubbing against something .

Maybe a leather lace/cinch tie of some sort could be added on the bottom to insure that the cylinder won't fall out after the leather loosens up. If tried, nothing would be lost and only something would be gained.
Nice product though, keep up the good work! :)

Was leery about how secure this configuration might prove to be, upon having first seen it, years ago. Got over it, though. Me father is retired LE and introduced me to something similar. Was the same application of design, but for use as a cartridge pouch.
The flap actually curls around the entire cylinder (or cartridge), retaining loop. So, the loop doesn’t need to be death grip tight around whatever it happens to be retaining. Thus, once the flap is opened, the contents within are easily removed – saving (potentially) precious time.
Also, because the flap encircles the entire retaining loop, there is a certain amount of “side force” applied to the snap closure. This seems to help with keeping the snap securely locked into place.
None of my cartridge pouches have ever accidentally opened – even the older pouches – so long as they’re placed appropriately upon the belt. Given that a cylinder is a larger animal, it’s imagined that relatively more care would be given, as regards proper placement. (Try to put the pouches where they’ll catch on something and you’ll hear the “thud” shortly after they do.)
If one is preparing to bound through the veldt, accidentally snagging one of these puppies might could be a concern. However, for quick access and ease of use, at the range (or the like), it’s a darned good retention system.
BBG, as was said, come the end of May, I will be talking with you about idears for containing the ’58 Remmie/shoulder stock set up. Also, about cylinder pouches, I reckon.

The reason the pouch its self is open on both ends is for ease of extracting the full cylinder and also for ease of replacing with the empty one however if the the pouch wasent as tight then you could add a pice of leather to the bottom with a hole then with one finger you could push the full cylinder out and then the empty one would drop right back in. HMMM now I got to think about it.
