Stith complained about being shot as he hobbled into the magistrate's office in downtown Clayton with a police escort Thursday afternoon. "It's wrong, man," he said.

I love it! A bad guy complaining to the press that it is wrong for someone to shoot him while he is in the process of attacking and robbing a woman.

There is a really good lesson here. The bad guy made several glaring tactical errors. He did not control the situation. He had target fixation and never saw the hero until it was too late and even then was unable to repel the hero even though he had the advantage. In short, he was defeated by a disabled man with mobility problems who hobbled up to the encounter and then was able to defeat the bad guy using one of the poorest choices of platforms and calibers, a single action, hand-cocked, NAA mini-revolver, no doubt in .22 lr.

Even for good guys, if you make really dumb errors, you defeat can come quite easily. Fortunately in this case, it was the bad guy who lost out.

"Darnit, I was s'posed to clobber that lady over the head, take her money, and spend it on drugs. And somebody stopped me? It's just wrong, man."

"It's just wrong, man, that he didn't get capped upside the haid!!!"

Good for our hero. It's so hard to imagine that any BG can actually think like that. :cuss:

A couple of noteworthy factoids:

Newsome said Strickland is unlikely to be charged because he is listed as the victim of the assault.

Strickland, who does not have a permit to carry a concealed weapon, said the gun had been lying on the dash of his car.

I hope Mr. Strickland is rewarded and recognised as a real hero.

Need to keep an eye out for the scum sucking bottom feeder who tries to say the robber should be compensated. Any bets on this happening?

I have a doubt: I think that it was .22 WMR (.22Mag).

It was a 22 mag. What surprises me is two things.

1. The BG was fleeing and stopped by our hero with a gun. Shot actually while leaving. The DA is not going to be charging the GG with anything. Good, but we were told that if the threat was leaving not to shoot.

2. Very little press coverage of this incident. A short bit on TV once during the day and a short piece in the paper. I'm frankly surprised it was mentioned at all. IMHO this guy should be held up as a icon and paraded in front of the news for days illustrating a positive use of a gun.
