So are these guys right, do we bolt the door shut and clean the weapons, or is this the same crap we have been told for the last 40 yrs. Sally Fields variety?

How's this gun related?

Because it has the ability to blow up into a global revolution. And the "food for fuel" issue is causing a world wide crises, which could turn ugly, when they are limiting the purchase of rice in Walmart and Costco, it could very easily become gun related. Every time the politicians start playing games like this, crime soars.

There have been some bad harvests in other parts of the world, not here in the USA.

The USA continues to grow lots of wheat, corn and rice, for internal consumption & export. Local price hikes are purely due to commodities speculation.

In Haiti the government fired on people rioting over food. It is likely we will see more violence related to food (or lack thereof).

The US is fine with food. It is the other countries that are not producing enough and thus having shortages. Australia has been in a drought, and produce a lot of rice. Recently they have not been able to. 3 other countries were considering limiting the export of rice. Thailands rice is 3 times as much as it was a little bit ago. My family ownes a rice ranch, and the prices are crazy for the crops. The don't get harvested until around October, but the price is extremely high right now.

Is the US in trouble with a food shortage? No. We have some of the best agricultural land in the world, and export a huge amount. If worst comes to worst, we would no longer export, and feed ourselves.

Do you round up the kernels with itty bitty lariats?

Id love to see pics of the great Rice drives, running them up to market....

Cowboys on Shetland ponies, a sea of white kernels thundering over the plain followed by the chuck wagon.
