Roll pin driving me crazy!

Hey guys,

There has to be a common sense solution to this.

My ejector on my P11 snapped, and I have a replacement ejector from Kel Tec. I have everything stripped and the gun is fine except for the ejector. I CAN NOT get the roll pin that holds the ejector out. I have a 3/32 punch that someone recommended, and it's too tapered to get the pin all the way out.

This is just driving me insane, almost literally. I can't keep banging because it'll put too much stress on the frame and obviously doesn't work. I have tried small nails and all kinds of stuff and they either aren't strong enough, aren't stable enough, or just don't work. I've sprayed rem oil to try to loosen up the surfaces.

What would you do? I'm putting the frame on a book with a bandana under it, holding it in place, and as I said the pin is on its way out but there's no way this stupid punch is going to work. I've slightly marred the area around the pin hole but thankfully no damage really, and I don't want to go crazy and smash my frame up with a hammer.

Help...

Wrong tool for the job!
You need a straight pin punch like this.

You can get them at any hardware or Sears.

No way a tapered punch is gonna take it all the way out.

Great for getting them started moving, but thats all.

BTW: Something more substantial then a book with a bandanna on it will work far better for a bench block.

Get a block of wood like a 4x4 on end, or something with enough mass that it won't move when you tap the pin out.

Whether the investment is worth it or not is up to you, but what you really need is a roll pin punch:

Kel-Tec's don't need no Steenk'n roll pin punches!

I don't think they even use them at the factory from the look's of mine!

The most appropriate tool for that job on a Kel-Tec probably is a telephone call to the manufacturer. Kel-Tec's warranty and service are good enough so that kitchen table gunsmithing shouldn't be necessary.

Got a straight pin punch at sears. I managed to get the whole thing back together pretty smoothly, and now I am proud of myself.

Robert, I would have gladly sent it to them except for the fact that my only other current gun is a Colt Army Special that's too big for carry for me, so I would rather not be gunless for weeks.

Luckily it turned out fine anyway.
