ive got a finnish m39 that im thinking about using for boar hunting in california over the summer. ive never hunted before so i was wondering if this would be a good rifle to use? i would think the 7.62x54R would be more than adequate but would it ruin the meat? thanks.

It's equivalent to .30'06 so it should be fine. I know a lot of people have used them for hog.

back in the years between WWI and WWII, there were a lot of Moisin-Nagant rifles used in the American deer woods. All the major ammunition makers loaded for it as well.

I got my SAKo 1942 sighted in for the Sellier Bellot SP. I forgot the bullet weight but it is ready to go.

No hogs up here so I'm not the one to ask. I suppose it depends on the location. For rounds on big hog I'd use the S&B 180 SP's or the Wolf 200 grains, not lighter.
