I just got my late Step dads Winchester model 94 Lone Star Commemorative 30-30...
It looks like this somewhat NOT MY GUN SHOWN IN THIS POST

The difference in this one and mine are
My stock has a more satiny deeper finish
My stock doesnt have the gold "medalion" in the butt stock
My serial # is LS11XXX (last three are numbers but not posted here ;) )

Can someone give me a low down on what i got.. Is it a knock off or something... The Winchester web site states it has a medallion and is worth about 650...
This one has never been fired and has no markings where a case has ever been loaded...

I will put up pics of mine once i figure out how to turn the flash off on my camera...

The ones I have seen had the medallion, but I suppose there is always the possibility of some without it. The stock and butt plate should be as pictured, though. If not, then apparently someone replaced the original stock.

The "LS" serial shows that the gun was a Lone Star, so that is certain. There was a LS rifle and also a carbine. Initial price was $140 each. The value given is about right, but it is a retail value, not what a dealer would pay. In truth, that gun shows the lack of investment value in those commemorative guns. $140 invested in a good mutual fund in 1970 would be worth a lot more than $650 today.

Mine is the 1/2 tube half oct. barrel rifle... A buddy has a different commemorative carbine and it has the medallion... His throry is that it could have been a factory mistake... He said the stock looks to be American Walnut... Really deep glossy finish... The other stock difference is the grove grooves near the cheek rest part of the stock are not there on my gun...

Whatever i have is a very beautiful gun... The gold and the look of this wood is very pleasing to the eyes..
When the wife comes ack ill see if she knows how to turn off the flash so i can pics of mine...

The best thing about it is that it was FREE to me.. My step dad bought it about 7 or so years ago and he died 5 years ago... My mom gave me his 06, 22mag, and shotgun... My little bro got this gun and a 870 that had never been fired... The 870 was sold since he doesnt hunt and i dont use a shotgun for much of anything...
My little bro dont want this gun so he gave it to me..

I think you have a commemorative that someone has changed the stock. I believe you have a very fancy and beautiful hunting rifle that will be hard to sell for what you think it's worth. Sorry about that. All the Winchester Lone Star commemorative had a brass medallion in the stock and you yourself state ed it's got a different type stock finish. No, I don't believe Winchester made a mistake. If it had the same finish and a blank space in the stock perhaps, but fot with a different stock finish.

Here is what i have.. If it has been changed it looks great but that would be crappy for someone to alter a unfired commemorative firearm
