Has anyone tried ffffg in there ROA? As I recall, the owners manual states any granulation can be used, filled up to the top(as long as you can seat the ball). However, could this cause hammer blowback from the increased pressure, or possibly heavier fowling? I even wonder about velocity increases...

It actually says, "Any granulation within these gradations could be used in the “Old Army”; normally, however, “FFFg” is the preferred grain size." So you CAN use it, but Ruger says the better granulation is FFFg. This could be for many reasons, but the clear implication is that performance is degraded with granulations other than FFFg.
Likewise, a full chamber can be used, but again, Ruger says performance will be degraded if that's done.
