After approximately 8000 rnds my FAC G23 40 S&W bbl gave up the ghost. The unlocking lug sheared off where it meets the under side of the bbl.

It was good while it lasted. And FAC says they will replace it with another for "free" if I send in the old one. It's going out tomorrow. They say it will only be a few days. I hope so as that is my IDPA/IPSC gun and bbl combo.

I wonder how the metal quality compared to OEM barrels.

What condition was the bore/rifling in after those 8,000 rounds? Did you notice a declination in accuracy before the failure?

I'm glad you're getting a free replacement; it seems by your post that you were generally pleased with their product.
