Possibly an attempt to manufacture a Paratroop Rifle for the Swiss Army?, Its deffo patterned after the FG42 though and chambered in the 7.5mm Kurzpatrone round.

Interesting rifle. Just look at the bolt handle, it's definitely Swiss!

The rifle looks badly photoshopped. All of W+F sturmgewehre of the early 1950s were with side-inserted magazines.

At the time Swiss army held a prolonged series of trials to adopt a new automatic / assault rifle to replace K31 carbines. They started with 7.5mm Kurz (7.5x38 IIRC) ammo in around 1949, and in around 1951 they switched back to 7.5 GP11 (7.5x55). The two contenders were W+F rifles inspired by FG-42 and SIG rifles inspired by Stg.45(M). The latter, in the AM-55 guise, won the trials and became the STG 57 / SIG 510.

The image is not photoshopped but 'cleaned', I wasnt so sure where the magazine was fed so i left it like that, I thought the mag insert was slightly just off the trigger group.

I did see another image of one lying on a rack with FG42's on top so its bound to have a connection with it.
