Would it be considered a straw purchase if I had someone buy an AR15 and some Cali-not-not-unsafe handguns for me for when I cross over to the sane side of the Colorado?

If they buy them with your money, yes, it's a straw purchase. If a friend buys you a rifle with his/her money, as a gift for you, that's entirely legal, and is not considered a straw purchase. However, you couldn't bring it back to Kalifornia if it's illegal under that state's laws...

If your friends in Colorado buy a bunch of weapons “illegal” in California, hold them in Colorado, and then legally transfer them to you once you’ve moved to Colorado, I don’t see how they could be straw-purchasers.

You're right, that's not a straw purchase. That's dealing in firearms without a license.

The best thing to do is just have the friend's favorite FFL accumulate everything Skunk wants and have them ready to transfer once he is in Colorado.

I crossed the Colorado a year ago. My only regret about leaving the People's Republic of California to return to the United States is that I didn't do it years sooner.
