Best shooting rest for hunting purposes?

Thanks to your help in a previous post, I've gotten the initial site-in of my revolver and it's red dot done! Now, another question, I plan on using the same (home made) crossed shooting sticks that I use for rifle deer hunting. What do you guys like to use as a pistol rest in a ground blind type hunting situation? What about hunting up a tree?

My buddy uses one of these, (http://www.boggear.com/monopod_shooting_sticks.html) and he loves it. I've always improvised, leaning against a branch or the like.

I like to take a strip of soft leather (from the bundles you find in hobby shops) and double it lengthwise. Then I stitch the ends shut, and stitch part way down each side.
In use, I stick a couple of dowel rods through the remaining slit, one pointing one way, the other pointing the other way. The result is a flexible, strong bipod with cushioned rest for the gun.
