I got a 24 of 25 in the first round of wobble shooting a rental Citori. :D

Yeah, I was happy!

2nd round was 22 of 25.

Good scores, and I'm sorry I couldn't make it also.

Kinda wonder what you're gonna do when you buy a shotgun that fits....

And Wobble is one of the more challenging games. Can't wait to do some more....

Mike, great shooting sir!
You are going to blow the importance of gun fit tho' if you keep shooting like that...:D

Dave, my theory, get Mike a gun THAT FITS...then shoot to see who buys supper. ;)

Obvious observation from my internet chair...Mike has thrown a bunch of rounds downrange, knows how to focus on targets (leads), trigger control, and his knowledge of what loads will do, enables him to do so. OH he is younger than you Dave.(gotta an excuse-use it) :)

Mike, how did the Citori fit?
(Just my luck you shot "from the hip") :D

All of the shotguns that I've used have "fit" in so much that I can tell.

I've shot wobble with a Browning Sporting Clays Gold, a Beretta 391, an S&W 3000 riot gun, and the Citori, and I've had scores all in the 22/23 range.

I truly don't think its the fact that I'm all that good a shotgun shot, it's the fact that for some reason I'm just really good at pounding birds that are either going almost straight away, or coming straight toward, me.

We haven't shot anything where there is really a lot of crossing shots yet. I think when we do that we'll find out that I'm not such a hot shot after all.

Yeah, it's really nice to post those kinds of scores repeatedly, but I don't have any illusions as to why I'm posting those scores.

re1973,

Yeah, I threw a fair number of rounds down range... when I was one hell of a lot younger.

Last year, when I shot wobble for the first time, I hadn't picked up a shotgun to shoot clays in very close to 10 years. I was completely unfamiliar with the sport, and with a Browning Sporting Clays Gold shot two 23s and a 20 in the last round.

I don't know what it is. Idiot savant, maybe. :)

Be strong, Chris(G)...

How did you shoot? Hopefully, you remembered to bring something besides a Full tube.

Mike, we'll try skeet some time, and you can check out crossing shots all you want.

Poorly. I started with an IC choke, but switched back to the Full for the 2nd round. I scored about the same either way, but broke the clays with a bit more authority using the Full choke. I simply need more practice, that's all.

IIRC, my score was 14/25 and 13/25.

Edit to add: I was able to take my time a bit more with the full choke. If I can get over the urge to "rush", I might raise my score a few points.

Gee, Chris, you think you should?

Careful, or you might get headbutted so hard that the baby gets a headache! :p

On a serious note, PM me your phone number for when my Remington comes in.

I want to look up your address in Anywho.com so I can be sure that I'm shooting out the correct front porch light! :)

Chris,

as for rushing, you get on the birds about as fast as anyone I've ever seen. I KNOW you're hitting some of them before they've gone more than 30 or 40 feet, which is pretty incredible.

You don't really need to worry about breaking the clays with authority, though. Just breaking them.

On the other hand, Mal mentioned to me last night that he felt that he was waiting too long on them and letting them get too far out.

His shooting was MUCH improved, though: IIRC he hit 15 in both rounds.

When he's shooting his 870, he's lucky to even get a whiff of double digits.

He seems to be a lot more comfortable with his Model 37. Luckily it has a thick recoil pad!

Chris, Full gives 2 more seconds or so on straightaways. Just for giggles, try shooting low gun with that Full choke and see what happens with your scores...

That's assuming no baby before the next range session, you're getting close, right?

As for Mal, whatever works....

try shooting low gun

Not sure what that means. You mean aiming below the bird?

She's technically due at the end of the month, but she can come any day now or later...
