My 5 year old grandson strayed the night and I had him help we reload some .40, he pulls the handle on my lee turret, and likes to make sure there is powder in the case. after about 5 rds we started talking about me giving him a rifle, so I take out by first rifle a sears single shot I got for christmas when I was 9, I told him he could have it after I showed him how to shoot it safely and accuratly. He looked in by gun cabinet and picked out my armilite AR-15 with leoploud up on top and told be he would rather have this one, as it looked cool. and this out of a 5 year old.

My grandfather took my father to a pawn shop in 1934 on his twelfth birthday and got a single shot 22 rifle.
In 1993 my son was 6 years old and used my shoulder as a bench rest [while I kneeled] for shooting grouse on our property with a single shot 22 rifle.

Kid's got good taste! While it's not the same as your 22, see if he digs the looks of a Beretta U22 NEOS 22 handgun. It has quite a bit of the wow factor.
