I recently had to order trigger and hammer springs from Charter Arms for my 1985 Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Special. The current Bulldogs use the same springs as the old ones.

Does anyone know the poundage on the trigger return spring and the hammer spring. I am guessing that the trigger spring is 12 pounds, and the hammer spring is 14 pounds.

Charter Arms did not know this answer (current Bulldogs are made by a third party).

I'm sorry, I don't have an answer to your question - but I have to comment that I find it rather off-putting that the folks at CA don't know the specs on their own products, even if they are contracted out to another company. What do they do when a customer calls with questions? I'd hope that they can do more than what they did for you, which was essentially nothing. Sure, they sent you the parts, but were they of any help otherwise?

Sorry for the ramble, it just seems a little...tacky for a gun company to not be able to answer some basic questions about their product.

I see Wolff offers reduced power and increased power hammer springs for the Charter. They should know what the standard spring(s) are I would think.

Check with Brownell's. They have a selection of tested spring kits for various weapons, including several popular revolvers.

Inexpensive and the one I bought for a Taurus M-94 was a simple DIY which did wonders for it. Much smoother and a good deal lighter trigger action in both SA and DA modes. I'd bet that they'll have at least one for Charters
