Anybody have any success with using the Sierra 200gr SBT and H1000 powder? Normally I'd use LR primers for a .300WM, but I'm wondering if the slow burn rate of the H1000 might need a LR Magnum primer.

Advices?

not for what you are wanting to use for components...

i would advise using a magnum primer once you get to about 60 grains of powder - and you should be easily above that.

fwiw i run 165 barnes xlc's and have found rl-22 and rl-25 to be outstanding performers in the 300 win mag.

My guess would be LRM primers. I am using CCI primers with 190gr HPBT and VV165 currently at 71grs - 73grs. Am still working up loads though.

My 180gr GK load uses 71.6gr of IMR4831 and a Win LR Primer. I get 2800fps out of it. Accuracy isn't great. I think it does 1.75" at 100 yards. That's what factory loads will do for me. I wonder if I should back off to 69.0 and work back up with magnum primers on that load?

Interestingly enough, I did another load wth 180gr Gamekings using 58.5gr of IMR4895 and a LR primer. Similar velocity, but a little better accuracy.

I tried some 150gr GK load development with IMR4895, and I got just at 1" with 3050fps out of the muzzle with me best recipe, so I'm happy with 150grain bullets.

I picked up a box of 200gr Gamekings to see what a heavier bullet would do in my rifle. H1000 is touted as being a good powder for the .300WM with heavier bullets, but I wanted to see what others here thought. I think I will use the LRM primers in my load development.

H-1000 From 67.3 grains to 80.0 grains Winchester WLR Primer

But I preferred:
RL-25 From 69.8 grains to 78.0 grains Winchester WLR Primer

Obviously no two rifles are alike, but I'm curious as to what kind of muzzle velocity you were seeing with that range of charges.
