Check these grips out on my CDPII

I've been making grips for friends and acquaintances for a little while now, but haven't sat down and come up with a set just for me yet. About a week ago I started thinking about what I would want to do and started looking around the shop at the woods I had available. I found these two pieces of Snakewood (one of the most rare and definitely one of the most expensive woods around) that were bookmatched and had AAAA pattern content. To make them even more unique I added a thin layer of Wenge underneath to "frame" the snakewood as it sits on the weapon. The fit to frame, mag release cutout, finish, and everything else on these is perfect and came together for me in a perfect storm of effort and beauty. Don't take that as bragging, it's not. I'm very thankful that all the elements came together on this set and very fortunate as well. These things make me drool.
Anyway, enjoy the beauty of the wood! Life is short, take a minute to appreciate the beauty of nature and just enjoy it.

How's the feel with a non checkered grip? I see they are a little less expensive, but thought they would be a little harder to hang on to when hands are slippery.

Everyone has their own preferences in grip textures, but I actually prefer the smooth over the checkered. With the checkering on the front strap and MSH of the weapon, checkering doesn't give me any more advantage and I've shot in the rain, the heat, the snow, and everything else. Now some will call me crazy, but that's okay. I have large hands and tend to be a "front to back" gripper as opposed to a "palmer" if you can understand that. I really enjoy the way the smooth grips feel when shooting.
I always have to remember on many subjects, that Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors for a reason though.......:D
