Love it. Small, slick, 10+1 rounds. Looks like a subcompact that even the people who don't like subcompacts can like.
I'm impressed. Love it.

Looks pretty "fat" for a subcompact.

After all the BS that HK's gotten from BATF, I have a feeling we're not going to see any of the new hotness stateside, until their new plant gets cranked up.

OK, it certainly looks like a neat pistol, and is undoubtedly well made if it is from HK.
But, please! A J-frame Smith is compact. A Seecamp is subcompact.
That thing is just a really big action that has been lopped off on either end. I know, I know - every manufacturere does it, but it doesn't make a small gun.
Sorry, just had to vent about this issue.

Didn't Glock already do this years ago with the G26? Looks like HK's playing catch-up.

We have seen adds for the full size for years....with no sign of them in person.
So...to get excited over a prototype....Puhhhlllleeeeeese!

it's still humongous. the grip is about as wide as a brick, and fits the hand just about as well.

Doesnt look that big to me. Then again neither did the USP Compact. No they are not the most skinny pistols. But then again, neither are the Glocks.

Gunhead (an Austrian THR/HKpro member) who has held one, said about its size:
The size is similar to a Glock 26, but I think the grip is a bit longer (= more control).
Also..
We all know the dimensions of the P2000. Because the slide release is identical on the P2K subcompact, with some photo measurements, I think we can make a close estimation... (although asking HK would be much more elegant and precise, but not as much fun.) :D
P2000
Length: 178mm
Height: 128mm
Width: 34mm
The slide release (left side) must be around 52 mm. Using this as a measuring tool the subcompact should be something like this:
P2000 subcompact
Length: 162 mm
Height: 116 mm
Width: 34 mm
*I posted this because you just never know when Gunhead will post on this site..* :o ;)

I'll believe it when I see it. H&K is incredibly slow in getting announced models to the market.

Schuey, I'm afraid you've been taken, it's a big practical joke the Germans are playing on us, and Gunhead is in on it :banghead:

You've held one? I've held and fondled a USP9, a .40 and a .45. no amount of chopping could make those pistols "compact", as they're all really darn wide.

It's just a matter of time fellas.
Dont hold your breath... but don't give up hope either.
The Germans over there know that the US gun market has a woody for sub compacts now... it only makes sense to roll that one out as soon as possible.

In actuality, they are no wider than most of the other pistols on the market. If you compare their specs, they compare with pretty much everything out there except the Kahrs. How they feel in YOUR hand depends on your hand (of course). I think in most cases, "compact"=smaller than the full size version (i.e. we cut an inch off the barrel and a half inch off the butt).

So, Skunk, are you implying that Gunhead is a mole (not the animal, ;) ) or some sorta' double agent secretly workin' FOR H&K Germany??!! LOL!!

But it's a 9mm......
When will it be available in .40 S&W, or more appropriately....
When will it be available, (If at all) in a MAN'S caliber like......
.45 ACP, or 10mm ?

I think the grip is too small for a .45 length cartridge... at least that is what it looks like to me.
But I agree with the .40 comment.

Well if you run out of bullets you could always club the bad guy with it. Try THAT with a p-32!

AndrewI've held and fondled a USP9, a .40 and a .45. no amount of chopping could make those pistols "compact", as they're all really darn wide. The USP9, 40, 45s use a different frame and magazine than the USP Compacts. The P2000 is built on a supposedly ergonomiccer frame than the USP9 Compact.
