Keep it or Sell it??

So, I recently unloaded a pistol that I'd been trying to sell and it was the only one I had in it's caliber and now I have several hundred rounds of .40s&w (mostly target rounds e.g. monarch and umc fmj) stocked as well as a couple hundred hp's. Given that the price of ammo just keeps going up, I'm thinking about just moth-balling it for a rainy (zombie) day but I can't help thinking that I might be able to turn that brass into green.. the most recent price I've seen for the yellow box umc is $75 (+/- 5 or so) which makes it about $0.30 per and about the same for the monarch..

maybe I can trade it for some .45 or .223. Otherwise, it just seems like money in the bank..

Not sure how many times over the last **** years I have sold a gun or guns and then almost gave the ammo away. What almost always happened is that down the road I ended up picking up another gun in that caliber and then had to re-build my ammo stash at a much higher price than before.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to get read of it. If you can get reasonably close to market price from it ,than perhaps it pays to use it to buy other ammo that you use now, but I wouldn't give it away or sell it dirt cheap just to be read of it.

As far as investment ?? Well, could be OK with the way things are going lately.

I got rid of all my .40 SW guns a while back. Im trying to consolidate calibers. I sold all the ammo as well, all the brass too. I then bought more 9mm, .223 and various rounds that I do shoot.

Im set for the coming zombie invasion.

mnrivrat sums up my thoughts.

I was an idiot to get rid of my stash of 9mm +P and .380.

I'm definately not itching to get rid of it. I'll probablt take it out of my primary ammo box but I'm, for sure, not trying to give it away.

I would be interested in getting some value for it but in my experience green money burns like cigarettes at an AA meeting.

Maybe I should ask around to see if anyone would be interested in trading for another caliber at some agreed upon ratio.. it'd have to be worth my while..

Anyone have a stash of 45auto or .223 and need some .40?
