Inspired by a post in Autoloaders.
What are some manufacturer-given appellations that you find silly, amusing, cumbersome, or just irritating?
The Taurus "Raging Bee" came immediately to my mind.
And just between you and me, I've always thought "Glock" was a weird name. :D

Anything named after a God or Goddess...
Athena, Orion, etc.
Just a pretentious way of jumping the price another 25%.

Any S&W name.
Just pick three or four seemingly random numbers and call it a gun. :barf:

Even though I plan to buy one, Llama always struck me as weird. Next, someone will name a gun "Camel" or "Ostridge."

I've always liked the acronym OICW... IMHO, it stands for "Oh, I Can't Win!" :D

The oddest one I've ever heard of was "Dissapator"....
When I first heard it, I thought, "Great. A gun that evaporates when you shoot it..." :what:
Best name: .357 Atomic :D (another name for the .357 Maximum)...

I think the term "Mannlicher" sounds disgusting. It certainly sounds goofy to me.

What about the EAA Windicator?
Started out as the Vindicator but someone else already owned that name.

"Just pick three or four seemingly random numbers and call it a gun."
You just got to understand their system.
Makes sense once you know what the numbers mean.

To be read in you best Circus Ring Master voice:
"Ladies and Gentalmen please turn your attention to center ring and witness the amazing acts of the great Tanfoglio."
 That's the picture I always get when I hear that name.

I have to second the Mannlicher. That just can't be pronounced how I think it's pronounced.

Whenever I've heard "Manurhin" pronounced, it sounds as though someone is referring to liquid bodily waste.
Those kooky French!
Then there's the Danish "Bang" rifle; I'm surprised no one ever developed one called the "Pow".

A litle off topic, but all names started with "THE TACTICAL-...." And of course the reason certain male gun owners are touchy-they are KIMBERETTES you know. :)

Anything with 'Urban', 'Tactical', 'Custom' (on production guns), 'Professional', or 'Operator'
ex: Wilson Urban Tactical, Springfield Tactical Response Pistol Operator
And Kimber's Ultra Tactical. They're naming guns after me now? :D
