The C or the CB? Is there any difference in handling and accuracy between the two?

The C has an 18.5" round barrel; the CB has a 20" octagon barrel. They would handle differently.

I don't have a CB, but I do have two similar Marlins with barrels that are different in length and profile, and this definitely matters.

My C feels really quick, or a bit "muzzle-light". The CB would be more muzzle-heavy; I can't say how much.

1894? Or is there a new 1984 model? ;)

I dig the C. It is just so handy and tiny. If I could do it over again I wouldn't change my choice of getting the compact.

I'd dig that 16" bbl limited version more than the C/CB, but given the choice of the options you listed, probably the CB.

I know two guys with the octagon barrel 1894s and they both bought them that way because it just plain looks cool. I think it's great that they did, but I would prefer the regular carbine (18.5" barrel) since it's handier, and therefore more practical.

Haven't shot the 20" octagonal barrel yet, but it felt pretty steady holding one on target at the gunshop. Oh, and the octagonal barrels are absolutely beautiful.

From what I gather the CB model is popular among Cowboy Action Shooters. The heavier barrel swings a bit smoother, or something along those lines. Sort of like why you'd shoot trap with a solid O/U rather than a light single barrel: The light guns swing a bit TOO quick sometimes.

For me, I took the C version. It's a bit cheaper, though I can't remember by how much, it works for my plinking fun, and when I don't think I've had enough trigger time on the 870 the 1894C takes its place in the bedroom closet as the go-to long gun.

You could just get both. I have the SS and CB. I like both of them.

i paid the extra tariff for the CB just for the "cool" factor ot the octogon barrel...reminded me of when i used to play with blackpowder rifles
