does anybody know the difference between 308 benchrest dies and the 308 national match die sets.Everything that I have read doesn't explain a diference.

IIRC - the .308 benchrest is optimized for bolt guns and the .308 National Match is optimized for 7.62x51 in gas guns - Forster explains this someplace in their literature.

My vague recollection is the gas gun dies bump the shoulder a nudge more - or do something else to optimize for gas guns - but I could very well be mistaken as to the exact difference. In any event that difference in final use is the intent. In particular there is a real difference in dimension and no advantage to the National Match in terms of quality or deluxe for use in bolt guns.

Well, I just learned something. I like Forster dies. I have them in about four rifle calibers.

The Forster NM 308 size die will bump the shoulder back .002 more than their regular size die. I like Forster dies as well.
