I have a #4 MK1 that wont expell the cartridge out of the receiver. I replaced the spring in the bolthead with the correct replacement, and it didnt seem to work. Am I correct in assuming that it is the ejector screw? It doesnt seem to be contacting the case rim, bolthead, or whatever it is supposed to "snag". It seems too short. Any suggestions how to correct this problem myself? Or is this strictly Gunsmith territory? Thanks guys-

Fatelvis, assuming that the extractor is holding the cases tightly then you might try replacing the ejector. It may not be long enough. George

Thanks George. Do the ejector screws come in different lengths (possibly like the bolt heads) or do you have to grind them to the correct length?

Not really. It's just that yours may be worn. There was another thread on TFL (I think) on this very problem. I can't remember what the solution was but it turned out to be something else altogether. I thought I had saved it because I never ran into that before but I can't find it and my memory is about as long as my little finger. I will try to find out though. George

Sad thing is, Springfield Sporters closed their doors for good earlier this year. They were one of the better sources for Lee-Enfield parts.
A good place to inquire about a replacement is in the Lee-Enfield Forum over at Dick Culver's CSP GunTalk board.
