I had read somewhere that there was an Ak builder here in Houston and had read some positive reviews about them. Do any High roaders own a Global trades ak?
I also noticed that they stopped selling guns or atleast thats what it sayes on their website. Does anyone know what happened?

They were one of the best AK builders 5 yrs ago. I saw their stuff in local gunshows before.

Global Trades was bought out last year.
All their assets were purchased by Elk River Tool & Die (http://www.elkrivertoolanddie.com).
They are still in the same place with the same people (sans owner) doing much the same thing as Global Trades was doing.

I have one. Bulgarian 1.6mm receiver, SSR-85C. Bought it for $535 two years ago. They have 1/2x28 muzzle threads, which is either good or bad depending on your point of view. It does 2.5 MOA with Wolf at 100 yards. Good gun, has about 4K rounds through it with no failures.

I just shot one of these last week. It was surprisingly nice and I hit what I aimed at with no trouble.

They were also doing business as Armory USA for their pre-built AKs, if I recall correctly. I just went to their web site, and it looks like they're out of the receiver/pre-built AK business in favor of doing that under their new name (Elk River (http://www.elkrivertoolanddie.com/index.html)).

If you want a ERT&D rifle, you'll have to visit a local ( Texas ) gun show, or their offices.

elk river tool and die is what they are now
they have some very good products that are harder to find anywhere else in similar quality
i have heard that customer service and lead times have been rough in some cases though
