My personal favorite: "the Ballistic Arts"

On a similar note, my favorite description of the profession of artilleryman: "kinetic sculpture interacting with the public space". Though I didn't make that up: it's from a political cartoon showing a general conning the National Endowment for the Arts into financing a new bomber. I loved that cartoon almost as much as the one where Snoopy's carrying an AR-15...

You guys are missing the environmental, "Green", tree-hugger factor in all this. As you know, propellants explode/burn without the need for oxygen from the atmosphere, right? - their constituent materials generate all that they need. Therefore, when I shoot, I'm protecting the ozone layer by not wasting air! :D

faustulus, the oxygen is chemically bonded in the powder. Kinda like iron oxide is iron bonded with oxygen...

Anyway, no external oxygen is required. Its all chemically in the powder.
