AZ members: Gas crisis?

Here in metro Phoenix, many stations have out-of-order tape wrapped around their pump handles signifying they are out. Some have removed the pricing from their placards save for Premium priced, and Diesel fuels. Lines around the block are forming.

A friend in Mesa waited in line at a Chevron behind a patron who picked up and pumped Regular Unleaded in spite of the handwritten sign saying they were out. The fellow then tore down the sign before pulling away. :D My buddy then took his turn and wrung-up $27 worth of the cheap-stuff.

So, while there is obviously some legitimate shortage,

Caveat Emptor my friends! :o

I hope your friend has a good fuel filter. He may have sucked a LOT of crap off the bottom of the tanks if they were truly low.

Suposedly a pipeline is down, and that is the cause of this shortage. They're is a real problem, and of course some folks who will try to exploit it. I expect they will truck in gas and charge accordingly.

I heard the same thing about Phoenix and St Johns AZ.

I have not left Arivaca at all this week. We have a small gas staion in town and filled up there the other day.:D

I don't know if Tucson is having the gas problems.

Gasoline prices in California have had a major jump over the last few days, so I did some checking to see what the heck was going on now.

The link below explains it.

There is difinitly some profiteering goin on as well, I saw signs esterday for $3.89 a gallon. I work for Safeway, this morning I filled up for $1.81. All we can realy do is be patient and see where it goes from here.

Hey, I am all for freee enterprise and everybody making a buck, but "profiteering" and "price gouging" torque me off....

Like the lumber yards charging $25+ for one sheet of 1/2" plywood right after a major storm...or right before, when everyone is 'boarding up'.

Or stores raising prices to an average of $4.50 per cell in those c/d cell multi-packs $18/4-pack.

Or some gas stations that raised prices to $4/gallon in the afternoon of 9-11-01.
