the main reason for using 6.5x47 is because you can get lapua brass in that caliber. if you're not going to use lapua brass, go with the 260rem etc

The 6.5x47 has a .470" case head, same as the 30-06 / .308 class of cartridges.
.222 Mag brass would not even come close to working.

Taliv I can get Lapua brass... just very expensive. And FMR informed me that getting a 6.5x47 would be a 6month wait...
The question came up because of the office ninja... who insisted that .222 rem brass can be made into 6.5x47 which I didnt think was right...
Looks like .260 rem will be in my near future

The office ninja was confusing 6X47 Remington with 6.5X47 Lapua...

There are Office Ninjas now? Geez, I thought we only had Mall Ninjas to contend with!
:D
Office ninjas are better... they have sub MoA silenced AK's... and regularly practice to keep up their shooting skills with Averages of .25 inch groups at 400 - 500 meters at Bisley with .22 LR's using tenex ammo
